Sandwich Squad: Serving Community, One Sandwich at a Time

November 7, 2025

At All Saints learning extends far beyond the classroom. It’s about fostering empathy, responsibility, and a true spirit of service. A shining example of this commitment is our Sandwich Squad, a student-led initiative that unites our community to support those in need. We’re excited to have launched this program for the 2025–2026 school year, continuing a tradition of meaningful service and student leadership.

Every week, our students gather to assemble sandwiches for local hunger relief organizations in Hoboken. What started as a small service project has grown into a beloved tradition that reflects the heart of our school. Students take turns preparing, packaging, and organizing meals, learning valuable lessons about teamwork, leadership, and compassion along the way.

“I oversee and organize this initiative and am so proud of the impact we are making right here in our community. It is incredible to see students across grade levels give up their snack time to help someone in our community. They take real joy in helping others, and it warms my heart to see older students modeling kindness and guiding younger students as they serve,”  shares Jennifer Glidden, Director of Development and Community Engagement at All Saints.

But Sandwich Squad is about more than just sandwiches. It’s about creating a culture of service, showing students that their actions, no matter how small, can make a meaningful difference in someone’s life. By participating, students gain a firsthand understanding of community responsibility and the impact of generosity. We’re proud to see our students approach this work with joy and dedication, understanding that service is both an action and a mindset.

“We find great purpose in helping others. Sandwich Squad reminds us that there are people in our community who depend on us, and each week our students show up to support them. The appreciation we receive from those we help, combined with the pride I feel watching our students make a real impact on a regular basis, is what drives this work. Being part of a community that lifts others up means everything.” – Martin Espinoza, Director of Facilities who co-leads this initiative alongside Jennifer Glidden.

We also want to thank our All Saints community for supporting this initiative. Whether it’s through donations or spreading the word, your involvement ensures that Sandwich Squad continues to thrive. If you’re inspired to get involved or support our mission, please reach out to Jennifer Glidden, at jglidden@allsaintsdayschool.org. Together, we can continue building a culture of empathy, kindness, and action – one sandwich at a time!
