On February 12, our school came alive with creativity, laughter, and applause as students from Kindergarten through Grade 8 took the stage for our 7th Annual Middle School Talent Show. Hosted by the Middle School Spirit Committee and led by Rebecca Van Loon, our Middle School Humanities Teacher and Coordinator of Student Life, this event was a wonderful celebration of the unique talents within our school community.

Students amazed the audience with an incredible variety of performances. From comedy skits and magic tricks to piano and guitar solos, singing, and dancing, every act showcased courage and creativity. Some of our faculty also shared their talents, making the event even more special and inspiring for our students.

Events like the talent show are much more than entertainment. They enrich our school community by bringing students, faculty, and families together to celebrate creativity, confidence, and collaboration. Participating in these events allows students to explore new interests, take risks in a supportive environment, and cheer on their peers. These experiences foster school spirit and connection across all grade levels.

Reflecting on the afternoon, Rebecca Van Loon shared “The talent show was one of the best yet!  The amazing leadership shown by our Spirit Committee MCs, combined with the enthusiastic community participation, truly made it an unforgettable event!”

The talent show also aligns beautifully with the IB learner traits. Students demonstrated open-mindedness as they appreciated each other’s performances, confidence as they shared their gifts with the audience, and reflective thinking as they prepared and practiced their acts. Creativity, collaboration, and communication are at the heart of every performance, reinforcing the values we cultivate in our learners.

Our 7th Annual Middle School Talent Show is a beautiful reminder that learning extends beyond the classroom. It is in moments like these filled with courage, imagination, and shared joy that our school community truly shines.
