At All Saints, learning is more than just textbooks and tests—it’s an adventure fueled by curiosity and a true love of learning! Through hands-on, inquiry-based experiences, our students develop creativity, problem-solving skills, and a deep enthusiasm for discovery that will serve them for a lifetime. As spring approaches, our classrooms are buzzing with excitement, and we’d love to share a glimpse of what makes our school so special.
Second Grade: A Journey Across the United States
What’s the best way to bring social studies, language arts, technology, and the arts together? By turning students into explorers! Our second graders are wrapping up a fascinating unit under the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) theme, “How We Express Ourselves.” Each student has researched a U.S. state, then brought their findings to life through commercials, travel brochures, and even interactive kiosks using Makey Makey technology. The unit culminates in a State Showcase, featuring a musical performance and student-led presentations—giving families the chance to see their child’s learning in action!
This immersive experience builds confidence, communication skills, and a deeper understanding of the world. It’s a powerful reminder that learning isn’t just about facts—it’s about discovery, creativity, and sharing knowledge with others.
First Grade: Young Innovators at Work
Meanwhile, our first graders are putting their problem-solving skills to the test in an exciting science and design project under the theme “How the World Works.” The challenge? Find a real-world problem in their school, home, or community—and create a solution.
Using the inquiry and design process, students brainstorm ideas, build prototypes, and gather feedback from their peers to refine their innovations. Their work will be celebrated at an Open Science Morning, where they will proudly present their creations to parents and guests. This hands-on approach fosters critical thinking, adaptability, and resilience—all essential skills for lifelong learning.
